Two years by and by, he followed it up with the more focussed Into the Woods, put out by the like label. Neither record record album was a marvellous loss from his form with Aidan Moffat (both lyrically and sonically), though the songwriting was on occasion more self-involved, seepage with diffidence and grief. Shortly later on Arab Strap's amicable split, he released A Brighter Beat (2007).
